get it while it's hot

2004 thoughts...

2004 was quite a year, I decided to take a very brief look at some of the events that took place during the year.

1.Nipplegate

You know what I’m talking about, Janet Jackson’s Superbowl Show.

2. Michael Jackson

Boy, it sure does run in the family eh?

3.Kobe Bryant

Meh!

4.Crocodile Hunter

You may have forgotten it, but the Croc Hunter nearly fed one of his kids to a croc

5. Courtney Love

Aha!

6.Britney Spears’ marriage to Jason Alexander.

Yeah….

7.G4 takes over TechTV.

8.Google launches Gmail beta.

9.Alex Albrecht Joins TSS

10.I make my own blog, which is somewhat successful.

Onto 2005. Just a few things I think could happen in 2005.

Gmail launches on April 1st 2005

Google and Disney join forces

Microsoft will make a super big important announcement that will change things as we know it.

Microsoft will make more mistakes.

I get my domain name.

More people check my sites and forum than I can count on one hand/

Okay, so this was really an interesting year. Care to share with me some events that I may have omitted? Be sure to email me and let me know.

I’m still contemplating posting what personal events took place in my life, but I don’t think I’ll bore you!

See you next year people.

meh.

I saw both of these movies. Fat Albert was really disappointing and national treasure was surprisingly good. I was going to do reviews on them, but then i became discouraged. I kinda feel like i'm wasting my time, but i think i'l stick with the tekstop site. I'm actually trying to buy the domain techstuff.net
I know it's kinda dumb saying it here because someone might take it out of spite, but what the heck, i'm in a mood. It's a bit difficult to get this domain bought considering i'm 15 and don't have a credit card and i'm not even a resident of the United States (or Canada). Meh, i guess i'l let you all know what happens.

Coming up on TSS..

From the long live TechTV group.

medical series "House," and it's LAN Party Thursday!

Fri. 1/7/2005 ** New Show **

Leighton Meester, the newest cast member of "24," gives us a sneak
preview of the action series' new season. Kevin R. continues his live

OMG!!!111!

Okay, i just did that heading^^ for fun, but this is way cool news. I submitted an article over at digg.com and i took a look at who exactly dug the story and how surprised was i to learn kevinrose dug my article. It's my article because i actually wrote the article myself. Here is the article.

Take a look for yourself, just look for the name KevinRose
Cool eh?

What's next? I don't know, maybe i'll get slashdotted! Yeah, that'll be cool, someone work on that for me!

Happy New Year!

I've been digging!

If you haven't heard of it, well, you should now.
I'll do an article for it at techstuff soon. If you are on dig, be sure to dig my stories!
As of this writing i'm ranked as number 59!

No cussing!

i had to ban someone from posing in the doodle board over at techstuff/tekstop. i know the IP address of everyone who visits the site and of those who post in doodle board, so i banned the person. i'm sorry if you people are pissed i censored the interview, but some on, it's not like the interview is unreadable or something. get over it.

It's going well!

Well the new old site, tekstop, which was relaunched (now named techstuff) is doing pretty well. 600+ hits in two days (as of this writing). I decided to be more like a tech blog, as i mentioned in a previous, long post. I am trying this whole tech thing with, well, i don't know how good or bad i'm doing, as i haven't had any feedback...yet. I'm not afraid mind you, because i know certain people will be ready to criticize me at the drop of a hat. Well, before you run out to tell me i suck and whatnot, just know this: I am not, nor have i claimed to be a tech expert. I want to be a writer and blogging is a medium for me to try out what i want to do for a living. Yes, i want to be a writer/journalist/tech dude. It's what i like to do, and i'll continue to do it. I'm only 15 by the way, so keep that into account before you tell me what you must.
What i am anxious to know is how the interview came out in your opinion. There are so many things i'm sure i missed out, but i did my best to leave no stone unturned in the interview. Think of part one as a teaser and tell me what you think after you read part 2, which should be put in January.
Anyways, back to the new site. I haven't exactly advertised, i just made a thread on the Unscrewed board over at G4, but alas! Know it or not, i discovered a site that was..quite enthusiastic over the whole interview. So you check out the site, i'm sure they could use a little more traffic there way.
www.techtvforever.net

Again, i said this would be personal blog, so it is. Expect all the tech stuff to go over at the other blog. tekstop.blogspot.com
I'll do my best to maintain this "integrity" thing i've been hearing about :p but really, i'm just giving my personal views on software. I'm looking for anyone with a site the least bit professional with a tech focus that's willing to affiliate.
The next thing on my list of stuff to do is organize the forum. I don't know if to just redo the old forum. [THE OLD FORUM]
Then again, maybe i should go with a brand new forum. Then again...again, i don't know if the forums would be the least bit popular, maybe i'll kill the forum all together, though with 199 members, maybe a should reconsider.
Ah well.

P.S. If you want to do an article/review/anything for the techstuff site, please, SUBMIT IT!
Oh and i think it's kinda funny with people referring to me as Samureye all over their sites. First off, there isn't a capital "S". Second, my name is Evan.
Anyways, i'm out.

Updates.

Interview
Yes, the interview with Joey the intern is here...sort of. He divided the interview into two parts, and I only have the first part, but what I have so far is...interesting to say the least. Look out for part one soon, I just want to edit it a bit (remove the potty language) and I’ll post it.
Also, I’m still working on the interview with Chris Pirillo and it's going along well, but i encourage you to submit any questions you want to ask, ANYTHING! I want to leave no stone unturned, so I’ll take my time with this one. As I’ve said before, I also have a third interview lined up, this one an actual host, and you will know who it is in due course.

What am I really doing?

I initially wanted to do a website like ww.gearlive.com in layout and content. I have always wanted to make a website, but i thought that it would be a daunting task. Thanks to blogging, I was wrong, and i can now go ahead with my dream, using blogger. My plans to get a wordpress blog fell apart. Of course i could use www.blogsome.com and use a free wordpress blog from there. I have even made a couple blogs just to get the feel of wordpress. (www.tekstop.blogsome.com) I won't use blogsme because i don't know how reliable they would be, i'd never know if they decide to charge me or something. I am currently safe with blogger and i guess i will stick with it even though it lacks some features that i wanted, such as built in trackbacks (this problem was easily overcome thanks to the free service from www.haloscan.com) and category posting. Who knows, maybe blogger will impliment those and more features in the future, but for now i don't think any of you will not come to the site because of features that only really affect the webmaster.

Onto the site!

I have given it some thought, and i now know what it is i want to do in terms of content for the site. I can't do news, i just don't have the time or resources to do it. What i want to do is have an off beat site with (not exclusively) user submitted content. My site would be somewhat like an RSS news agregator, where i would post anything interesting that i could find, tech related or not, from websites to games. I would also like to post articles and tutorials of programs. (Basically in depth reviews and of course using free programs) Think of it as a mixture of plasticbugs.com/kevinrose.com/alexalbrecht.com/gearlive.com with the free file of the day features of call for help thrown in for good measure. Some of you may think I’m crazy, some won’t care, others wish they had their 3 minutes back from reading all this stuff. Either way, that’s just an idea of what I want to do. Whether this all actually takes place is yet to be seen ;P

Lastly, in terms of content, I want to encourage you all to submit your reviews of music movies, games, and anything else you can review. If you like writing reviews or maybe articles on tech/programs, feel free to submit your crap er, I mean stuff to get some exposure.
If you just want to submit something interesting, and it can be anything at all, from a deal, to an interesting website, to flash games, anything at all, please submit some stuff as well as your website and name/alias so you can be credited accordingly. As usual, you know the address, samureye@gmail.com

I am trying to buy a domain name, and no I won’t say what it is until it is registered. I need to find a place that will give me a domain name and give me email addresses at that domain as well as allow me to use it over my blogger domain.

[Example, I register pickledbananas.com and I can get mail myname@pickledbanas.com]
I’m not sure if it’s possible, but I can only hope. If anyone wants to help me out with that and maybe give me a typepad account (hey, I see there is a cool promotion going on and it couldn’t hurt to ask right?:p ) then please email me samureye@gmail.com

Lastly(again) you can also expect an interview every month, though I can’t keep any promises, all I can say is that I have the next three months covered, so if you know any old TechTv people that have a website that they personally update or if they at least have contact info, please send me an email as well.

Lastly (Third time, are we sensing a trend here?) I have more Gmail invites. If you want one, please email me, including a message of how much you love the site (not really :P) and I’ll send one your way.

Well, that’s about it for now but before I end this post, I wanted to let you know I also have more stuff planned. At the moment I don’t know how likely they are to take place, but you never know. Some of the things are

-blog of the week (if I can find a suitable one every week, that’s where you people come in)
-a forum( It will be good, I promise)
-monthly interview (been there done that)
-me ending this post
I’ve asked for quite a lot of stuff, and I probably won’t get much of a response, so to the people who liked this site, all none of you, let’s hope I can make this happen.

Gmail.

Yes, well news is slow, i have yet to produce a single interview...and that's about it. So why not do something nice? So i am giving away some gmail invites. I was surprised to find i had been given some invites in my various accounts, so if you want one, leave a comment. Act now because i may decide to use them for promotion...or not :P

P.S
I hope it's okay with certain people, knowing other sites have given away invites.

To date i have given away over 40 invites, get yours now if you haven't already but really, who doesn't have an account? When will google go public? And who doesn't want an invite from samureye? I mean really! Okay i'm done now.

Comment retaliation.it was

So i noticed this comment based on the Clusty post..
Comment: Nice way to steal ideas from Kevin Roses site..

Just so you know, there is a link to kevinrose.com saying "from"
I give credit where it's due so please, don't accuse me of something i did not do. Regardless, i could have easily have found it myself as i am even a member at digg.com so I would appreciate if you get the facts straight before you judge/criticise me.
Furthermore, the internet is, i think it's safe to say, a big place. In so saying, i think it's quite possible that i could happen to find something on the internet, get this, on my own.
I mean this as no insult and only for you to know, i won't steal anything, if i find something from someone else's site, i always try to credit them. Just so you know.

-sam

In somewhat unrelated news, i may have the proper site up soon. I should have a domain name and all soon.

P.S Submit your questions for Chris Pirillo, and i'm still trying to contact Joey the intern.

Interview #2.

I know i haven't got back my interview with Joey the intern as of yet, honestly, if you want, go make noise in the comments of his blog or email him, jrabier@gmail.com. Anyways, i already have a second interview lined up, and this is a host. I actually have 2 more people that have agreed, but i'll do one a month. As soon as i get the interview with intern joe back, i'll let you know who it is and you will be able to submit questions. From the looks of things, i can probably do an interview a month, but i have yet to get back the first one, so until then, you will have to guess who i have in store.
